The establishment of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) Representative Office to the United States has been initiated by Mr. Yurter Özcan at the request of the CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu on January 5th, 2013. The US representative office has started its functions in Washington D.C. in July 2013 under the auspices of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) following the completion of the application process with the United States Department of Justice. CHP Representation to the United States has two main goals:
- To officially represent the Republican People’s Party (CHP) in the United States
- To strengthen the relations between Turkey and the Turkish-American community; help solve the problems and challenges faced by Turkish-Americans and support the Turkish lobby in the U.S.
